Bel Air is a residential district within western Los Angeles that has a well-deserved reputation for glamour and luxury. Although not all Bel Air properties are stunning mansions, the community as a whole has a secluded and exclusive feel. For this reason, Bel Air has long been a haven for the rich and famous. Real estate options consist of detached, single-family homes, ranch homes, and mansions.

Bel Air is located west of Beverly Hills at the base of the Santa Monica Mountains. The community has two main entrances, one accessible from Sepulveda Boulevard and one accessible from Sunset Boulevard. Homes near the entrances tend to be in higher demand due to their accessibility and excellent views of the surrounding valley. Homes located higher up on the mountain are usually more modest in stature, though some offer stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.

Things to do in the area include golfing, shopping, dining and an eclectic nightlife. Premium, private golfing is offered by the Bel Air Country Club and the Los Angeles Country Club. The latter is located just outside of Bel Air on Wilshire Boulevard. Shopping and entertainment are available in nearby Westwood Village, a night spot that is popular with UCLA college students. Other landmarks in the vicinity include the UCLA campus, Hotel Bel Air, The Getty Center Museum, Century City Shopping Center and Beverly Hillsí Rodeo Drive. Bel Air is roughly 10 miles from the beach at the Santa Monica Pier.

Residential properties in Bel Air range from magnificent gated mansions to more reserved ranch homes. The community is characterized by a hilly landscape, winding roads and large, private lots. Prices for Bel Air homes range from about $1 million up to $75 million. The highest priced homes are located closest to the main entrance points and thoroughfares. The advantages of these properties include accessibility to neighboring communities and the country club, as well as scenic views of the Los Angeles Valley. At the higher elevations, the homes are generally a little cozier than the estates below. While the homes here may have less expansive floor plans, some offer ocean views and most are in excellent condition.
